Roger von Laufenberg and Michaela Scheriau participated at the 2nd Consortium Meeting of GATHERINGS in Dublin from 6-7 November 2024. The project achieved its first year and discussed all its work progress and next steps. GATHERINGS moves into its next phase, which includes conducting the three living labs in Austria, Bulgaria and Greece in close cooperation with national LEAs. The three living labs consist of investigating public gatherings (such as concerts, music festivals, protests, football matches etc.) at all three country sites with a particular focus on surveillance technology, including focus groups with experts of event -and security management, citizens and groups who are potentially affected by surveillance measures in an unequal manner. At the consortium meeting, the project team also piloted the Security-Privacy-Cost Evaluation Matrix and had some productive workshops on ‘Mobilisation and Mutual Learning’.
